Pastor Jared Thomsen was born and raised in Southern California, has been married to his wife Angela for 16 years, and has two daughters - Reagan (14), and Delaney (13). After about three years of God stirring their hearts and confirming to them that they were being called by Him to step out in faith and go start a new church in the East Bay Area - Jared and his family moved to Walnut Creek in May of 2014 to plant Calvary Chapel Walnut Creek. They were sent out with the blessing of their home church (a Calvary Chapel fellowship in Lake Elsinore) where Jared served on staff as an Assistant Pastor. Over the past twelve years Jared has served in various aspects of Pastoral ministry including: youth, young adults, worship, and as an assistant pastor.
Jared is passionate about: seeing church done right (Biblically), keeping things simple and always keeping Jesus central, preaching the gospel/seeing the lost find salvation in Jesus, teaching God's word/equipping God's people, seeing believers discipled and raised up for ministry and sent out for the furtherance of the kingdom of Christ, and ultimately seeing Jesus glorified and made known in Walnut Creek, the entire Bay Area, and around the world.

Brian Stripling and his wife Donna started attending in 2014 shortly after the church began meeting in their neighborhood. They were excited by what God was doing through Pastor Jared and the multiple other families who moved here to start the church. The focus on Jesus and God's word was an inspiration and they felt led to be a part of the ministry. In early 2017, Brian accepted the invitation to become an elder. As an elder, He is committed to partner with Pastor Jared and the leaders to pray for the church, seek God for the plans and direction, and encourage others. Brian is passionate about his relationship with Jesus and also enjoys time with his family, hiking Mt Diablo with Donna, fishing with family and friends and more. They would love to get to know you and hope to see you on Sunday.
Most of you will recognize me as Bud McLaren. However, the name Warren was assigned to me on July 1st, 1956. My bride, Georjean and I married in 1976. The Lord has blessed us and guided us throughout our life together. We have 3 children Daniel, Jean-Marie and Ronald, each are married and are strong believers in Christ. We are also blessed to have 5 grandchildren who love the Lord.
In 1991, The Lord invited me to get to know him on a more personal level. This took place through a chain of events that required total faith in Him. As He revealed Himself to me and my reliance on Him became stronger, my desire to serve Him increased.
Psalm 116:1-2 "I love the LORD, because He hears My voice and my supplications. Because He has inclined His ear to me, Therefore I shall call upon Him as long as I live."
Synthia Stevens was born and raised in Southern California. She committed her life to Christ at the age of 22 and went on to serve in the children's ministry at her home church of Calvary Chapel Canyon Hills for about two years. After months of seeking the Lord through His word and in prayer, He confirmed to her that she was to be a part of the work He would do at Calvary Chapel Walnut Creek. She made the move to Walnut Creek in September of 2014 and has since been a part of the family at CCWC.
Sue Arnett was raised in Contra Costa County and has continued to live in this area. She has three adult children and a grandson. She received Jesus as her Lord and Savior in her early 20's after searching in vain for happiness and finding it in Him alone, for in His presence "is fullness of joy." Psalm 16:11. In 2015 the Lord brought her to Calvary Chapel Walnut Creek. She had also provided administrative support and program coordination at her previous churches and for Christian ministries. Sue recently retired, and the Lord gave her a desire to serve Him in retirement by supporting Pastor Jared and CCWC as church secretary.
